WHAT DOES IT TAKE... TO BE A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST?
Our heavenly Father is not telling us what HE wants us to know, but GOD will reveal to us what WE want to know about His word, as being His followers.
Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will become a child of God, while obeying His Word to start with by being BAPTISED by total submersion in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and to be filled with the Holy Spirit, according to the Scripture. Not just skipping over His Word and to do whatever we think rather then following what God's Word teaches.
Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19,20
It is important for His children to walk and act according to the Bible, and not just by thinking: "Don't take it all too serious."
YES, we have to take each Word from the Bible very serious in order that God will be pleased with our life. Therefore shun this world of sin and keep your "garment" clean and undefiled.
A Believer has to do his/her utmost best, making all effort to please God. Act upon His WORD, rather than acting upon ones' own thoughts, which does not satisfy the Father. This would be similar to the Professor who wants you to do your homework to pass the test set before you. If you do not study the text book, you will be wasting your time and never receive your degree. You have to take your studies seriously.
A believer/follower of Christ has to do GOD'S WILL, not what you think you can get away with. The Bible is not written for the "self-made man" or "do your own thing", or "whatever you feel like".
If you have LOVE for God, who gave His only Son to rescue you from condemnation of eternal punishment in hell, you would be so thankful and happy to do God's will according to His Word, that you will sing from joy and happiness all the days of your life. HALLELUJAH!
The road before you may not be easy, but rough at times. You may be tested, you may go through valleys just to learn what God can do in your life. This does not mean that the Father will let you "drown", but He'll teach you how to "swim". AMEN! Such experiences will give you strong "spiritual legs" to walk in FAITH.
Jesus Christ gave His sinless life for us sinners; a cruel death off great suffering by the beatings and lashes received, then nailed to a rugged cross, hanging there for 6 to 8 hours before He died.
Could you "perhaps" surrender your sinful soul and nature, to Him who sacrificed His ALL?
"All to Jesus I surrender ALL to Him I freely give", should be an "Eternal Desire"
Anyone who desires Christ in his/her life will automatically walk according to what the Bible teaches, in the strength of the Lord. He will be your Love and your Watchman, until you meet Him face to face.
What a DAY that shall be when my Jesus I shall see... AMEN!
