You shall Overcome

1 John 5:4,5 For whatever is born of God overcomes(conquers) the world and this is the Victory that overcomes the world - our faithWho is he who overcomes (conquers) the world, but he who believes that Jesus Christ is the son of God.

Matthew 22: 37-40 Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

To crucify the flesh and to keep the old sinful nature under submission, one must consistently apply the scriptures and honor God.

This requires a surrendering of your will to God and yielding to DAILY obedience. To do this, you must learn to walk in His ways by faith; believing that you are able to do what God instructs in His Word. Faith is active, not passive!

1 John 5:3 For this is the Love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

James 2:26. Faith apart from works is dead.

Faith is a very important key because it puts God's power into action on your behalf. Consider Daniel and the lions, Rahab's red rope, and David, when he killed Goliath. These are just some of the examples on how faith is put into action. Having faith can be compared to that of a muscle. The more you exercise it and put it into action, the stronger it gets. Hence, the more effective you become in OVERCOMING.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Did you get that?

Romans 8:2 4 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

God is not asking us to do something we cannot do; neither does He ask us to depend on our own abilities. He has equipped us to be OVERCOMERS through Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit. He will enable YOU to overcome, IF YOU BELIEVE!

Don't be deceived by your own understanding or by the whispering of the devil that tries to give you reason as to why you cannot get rid of bad habits, bad temper or unclean thoughts.

The only thing that is holding you back from experiencing Victory is your unbelief and your own stubborn will. You must search your heart and decide whether you really want to be free from these things that oppress you. It is up to YOU! Are you walking in His ways?

Romans 6: 11-14 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Romans 8:37 We are more than conquerors through Him, who loved us.

2 Peter 1:3- 4 His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Run the "race", that you may win. 1 Corinthians 9:24

Don't keep asking The Lord to do it for you, because it is done already, through the finished work of Jesus Christ! Through His death and His resurrection we can say with Paul; I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Philippians.4: 13

Matthew 19:26 But with God All things are possible.

Revelation 2:10-11 Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.

Revelation 2:26 He who overcomes and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations.

Revelation 3: 5He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments and I will not blot out his name from the Book of life, but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Revelation 3:12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more.

To overcome you need faith in action! It is something like David did in getting his sling and a few stones ready. Really it was THE LORD who rewarded David's effort and obedience by directing the stone right between the eyeballs of Goliath. David's strength was that he went in the name of the Lord. Amen! After the giant fell on the ground, David only had to cut his head off, for he was dead already.

THIS IS CALLED VICTORY!
It's the Lord who's doing it anyway, we just have to take some action in obedience.

Revelation 3:21 To him who and sat down with My Father on His Throne.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

Revelation 21:7-8 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son, But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

Because of disobedience to His Word, you will miss the victory. This can cause many heartaches, bad situations, and endless problems! Lacking holiness leads consequently to worldliness. Thus resulting in insensitivity to the Holy Spirit, which in turn will produce a fruitless believer. To become a conqueror, a believer must learn to obey God and walk in His ways.
If one is not willing, one may start to experience some unpleasant things from time to time. Although the Lord does NOT create these situations, He will allow them. Sometimes believers may confront difficult circumstances in their lives before they totally surrender, learn to deny the flesh and allow The Lord to be their Master and Lord.

Through ongoing troubles you will learn what the Lord is trying to teach you. The Lord looks at the end result and what He can accomplish in your life. A person only considers what he observes; one would rather try to avoid painful situations and hope that things can be a bit easier.
Today we are spoiled with instant pudding and instant mashed potatoes. If it were up to us, an "instant" Victory would be accommodated in those "instant" resources. Alas, one can only become a VICTOR after winning a battle! This can only be accomplished by practising and exercising your spiritual muscles that you've been equipped with through knowing God's Word!

2 Timothy 2:15...Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1 John 5:12 He who has the Son has Life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have Life.

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore , my beloved brethren be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

The scriptures are very clear: One either OVERCOMES through faith, or is OVERCOME! There is no in-between. The choice is yours!

You may have noticed that this writing has many scriptures in between my personal input. With this, I am trying to point out that we have to walk ACCORDING to GOD's WORD! I give to you what The Lord already has said rather than presenting my own words only. His Word gives perfect direction! His Word gives promises for your life, I can't. I am however proof that His promises are TRUE!

Thank you Dr Trudy Veerman for the ample supply of the verses that point to the RESPONSIBILITY God gives to each BELIEVER to believe the word and seeing that GOD then does the rest when it comes to healing. YET we also see that there are things we must do ourselves, which GOD so designed that we have POWER over them. For that he made us more then conquerors - that is SUPER CONQUERORS in Christ Jesus. AMEN.
