King Hezekiah led the people of Israel back to God, since the forefathers trespassed, did which was evil in the eyes of the Lord, forsake Him and did turn away their faces from the habitation of the Lord.
Therefore the wrath of the Lord was upon Judah and Jerusalem. Hezekiah made a plan so that the wrath of the Lord would turn away from them. He commanded the priests to cleanse the house of the Lord and all that was in it, to sanctify themselves and the people and to make reconciliation with the blood of the sacrifices on the altar, making atonement for all of Israel.
May the good LORD pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God. (2 Chronicles 30:18b,19a).
The children of Israel worshipped again the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, while the priests praised the Lord day by day, singing with loud instruments unto the Lord. So there was great joy in Jerusalem.
When all went home they broke the images of other gods and destroyed the altars out of all Judah. And the people gave thank offerings unto the Lord and praised His name in the gates of the temple.
Then the King of Assyria entered Judah and encamped against the fenced cities. He threatened King Hezekiah to fight against Jerusalem and take the land.
Now the King of Assyria spoke scornfully against King Hezekiah and the Lord God, and tried to frighten the people of Israel. But the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men, the leaders and the captains in the camp of the king of Assyria . The King had to retreat in shame to his own land and was killed by his offspring, with the sword.
Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of the king of Assyria. This condensed story is taken from 2 Chronicles Chapters 29-32.
Isn't this a wonderful ending to the story?
Beloved, there is a lesson to be learned. If you desire to see God at work, you must abide in Him. If you need protection, you must walk in the shadow of the Most High.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (Psalm 2:11).
You may think you're doing alright, but please, search your heart, examine your walk with the Lord and line up your life with God's word.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (Psalm 34:18).
God is not pleased with your life if you have drifted away from Him. You must cleanse your heart and soul with the Blood of Christ, Who made the Sacrifice for our sins and shortcomings. Make a full turn and face your Maker.
Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth. (John 17:17).
Come with renewed commitment and in consecration unto Him, the Lord of all. Worship Him, for He dwells in the praises of His children. Do away with all worldliness.
For the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away His face from you, if ye return unto Him. (2 Chronicles 30:9b).
Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. (Psalm 106:1).
Fight the good fight of faith. Do not allow sin and satan to come between you and the Lord. It's not worth it. You will be the loser after all, if you allow this to happen. Life is short and eternity lasts for ever. Giving up sin and worldly desires now will provide you with eternal bliss.
Walk as an overcomer through the power of the Holy Spirit. Just sit back and let the Lord rule your life. Experience victory in your life, instead of defeat. Even if you see dark clouds around you, do not fear.
Praise His wonderful name!
Therefore I will give thanks unto Thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto Thy name. (2 Samuel 22:50).
God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause His face to shine upon us. (Psalm 67:1).
